Sacred Ceremony
I don’t call her grandma, she hates that. She’s my Nani and I’m her princess. She sparkles and smells like potpourri. She has a crystal candy dish full of red hots and a never ending supply of stamps and stickers. She always fills my birthday cards with confetti, loves glitter and anything purple. Ever since I was a little girl and to this day, I try on her hat and scarf and every piece of jewelry she’s wearing whenever we’re together. We like to go to gem shows and talk on the phone for hours. Growing up she had the best advice about boys, honest and real advice that came from her colorful life. She studied astrology for many years and would draw out entire astrology reports by hand to see if I was compatible with ex boyfriends. She loves the stars and believes in angles. She would always tell me I wouldn’t know for sure if I found “the one” until I turned 29 and she was right. When I turned 29 I knew I found him and in December 2019, the day after Christmas, she married us in the house I grew up in.
