Ireland is something out of a storybook! Fresh air, blue skies and GREEN as far as the eye can see. I have never in my life seen such happy, healthy and beautiful farm animals. That’s what stood out to me the most driving from Dublin to Cong on the way to Ashford Castle.
Mama cows grazed and fed their babies, horses ran free and goats lounged in the sun. Short stone walls (dry stack walls) separated the different animals making the views even more precious.
Once you arrive at Ashford Castle you will not be disappointed, It’s absolutely stunning!
Make sure you don’t miss afternoon tea! It’s a delightful, possibly once in a lifetime experience!
Visiting the Cliffs of Moher is a must! You’ll quickly be reminded how astounding this world really is.
On the way there you have to stop in the cute, crisp town of Galway. It’s brimming with character, great food, river dancing and live music!
Stock up on your Irish wool in Galway, you’ll be glad you did, it’s windy at the edge of the world.
Lunch in Limerick is a “sound” idea on the way to Dingle and Dingle is where it’s at! Make sure to stop at Inch Beach on the way, it’s breathtaking!
For a local Irish bar experience grab a Guinness at Foxy Johns! It’s a cozy bar/hardwood store where Gaelic football and Gaelic conversations are sure to entertain you.
I loved how everyone is welcome in Irish bars, old men, young people, kids, even babies… it’s a family affair!
Another absolute gem is Dick Mack’s Pub, the live music and warm welcomes made me want to stay all night. People are so kind in Dingle it will truly warm your heart.
You absolutely cannot leave Dingle without experiencing the Slay Head Drive around the coast, it’s spectacular. I’m still blissed out from the scenic views of rolling green hills, ocean, and castles out in the distance.
As you drive you’ll see signs for petting farms and if you’re smart you’ll stop to hold baby lambs and goats as young as two weeks old!
They are so gentle and sweet, I still can’t get over it.
You can also stop at pretty much any cafe to enjoy gorgeous views and wholesome food along the way.
Take your time with this drive and really enjoy it!
The Dingle Distillery is the perfect final stop on your drive, you won’t want to miss a tour and tasting here! You’ll leave happy and tipsy on artisan Irish Whisky.
